Human Services

Hello my name is Denise,
I work as an event specialist or what people might say as a party organizer. It is my job to help people with anything they desire when it regards to organizing an event whether it is for parties, assemblies, meetings, etc... In this industry, it is required to be very organised which was never a problem for me as a child. I hated it when things were messy or didn't go my way. I always got things done even though I thought it was impossible or too difficult to accomplish. To be an event planner it is required to have social skills when it comes to talking with clients with their needs since thats basically what you do in a daily basis. If you're incapable of getting your point through to people or your too shy this isn't the job for you. You have to feel comfortable working in teams. In school I used to be a great leader in every project done. I loved to take charge and hand out the roles to my teammates that regard their abilities. I am very good with words and math. I became an event planner because I always thought it would be a career that would never become boring and that I would always work with something newwhich would make it exciting. I love planning events with different themes. I just knew from the start that this was the career for me from a very young age. I was determined to go through school, finish my studies and finally making my own business after a couple years of experience.

Hospitality and Tourism

Hello my name is Sara,
I'm currently working as a part time waitress. It has been around two years I have worked in this domain while going to college, studying in the business industry. I usually get generous tips whenever I serve people. My mother always advised me to keep a nice smile when I'm interacting with clients and communicate with a nice tone. During high school, I used to be the captain of the cheerleading team. People always seemed to apppreciate and enjoy my presence. I never had trouble interacting with people, I was always a leader. I never enjoyed working alone because I always got bored easily. School was never my strong point, I usually did well in every presentation though since I had my ways to make my presentations seem interesting even if the quality work wasn't the best. My friends used to tell me I got away with murder whenever I got into trouble. Lets just say I'm word smart when speaking but not really on paper. A day in my shoes while working as a waitress would resemble a person getting to work at a specific time and serving clients and trying to keep them happy and not make them wait to long when bringing the food. There are times when the restaurant is full, I have no time to eat so I must find time between shifts that doesn't affect my work. As a waiter I'm allowed to have free food during shifts which is awsome since the food taste great. This job helps me bring in money to pay for my studies which is the reason I became a waiter.

Health Science

Hello, my name is Oliver and I'm currently studying to become a paramedic.
I have only one year left before I start having any shifts in my career. As a youngster, I used to be always fascinated by the human body regarding the inside. For example, the lungs, heart or anthing that was produced from an injury. I used to play doctor with my little sister so whenever she got hurt I would make sure to heal her with my "special" skills. In highschool, science became my favorite subject when they reviewed the fuctions of the human body. I thought it was the most amazing thing I ever heard and learned.
My friends thought I was weird since I usually spent my weekends searching things regarding science. I would go to bed late and wake up really early. But this habit actually benefitted me since I heard being a  new paramedic you have to be ready to wake up at any hour which means I might not get a lot of sleep. I was always a fast worker but not in a bad way. I always seemed to know exactly what to do which in my brain seemed to always click. With that small gift I could solve solutions easily and fast. During my studies, my teacher was amazed how I worked without really thinking anything through. I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in the medical department so I made sure to always keep a 90% average in my studies. I never had any problems speaking to people and working with them it just seemed to naturally come to me. So basically my social, math, science logic really helps me today.

Government and Public Administration

Hello my name is Stephany,

For about twenty years I have been working as a tax examiner. There are a few requirements to work in this industry, first of all you have to be good with numbers. Which was a subject I used to Ace in highschool. Everybody would always come and see me whenever they had problems regarding that subject which actually made me feel better. So basically working with numbers is something very important in my job since that's what I work with everyday. A day in my shoes, would resemble working with bills from clients who have difficulties regarding that. I also check an individual's federal state and local taxes accuracy. I am thankful for not being the type of person for letting others push me around because today I sometimes deal with tempered and impatient people which is really unpleasant. As a teen, I usually told people what I thought of them whether it was positive or a negative opinion. I always believed the truth is better. I always got along well with people which now i have developed pretty good social skills. Working in teams or alone never actually bothered me when it came to projects since there are some positive points for each situation. My last year of high school, my math teacher recommanded me to go into a career where my math skills were required since he thought it would be ashame if I just put it aside and didn't use them since he thought I had a lot of potential in that topic. So I followed his advice and that's baically how I became a tax examiner. Today I began taking yoga classes in order to calm my nerves since my job can sometimes be really stressful when I've been given a deadline.

Fiance

Hello my name is Matthew and I'm currently working as an Accountant. Since an early age I was able to manage money. My friends often came for my help when they wanted to save money to buy a certain game. Firstly, math was the easiest topic and the most enthusiastic subject in my case. I had no problems in that subject and I just loved working with numbers because I liked the feeling of making my brain go to work and think about possible situations. I could only understand elements as long as it was logic. I never had problems working in groups or by myself. Both ways, I was comfortable and was able to do the work properly. This helped me later on when I had to interact with clients in order to help them with their needs. I worked better as long I could see the problem/ work on a piece of paper. My brother would always nickname me “Smarty Pants” since I was a nerd in school. I was also very good with computers and any other kind of technology.

Now today my work involves counting with money, working with it and trying to help people who are soon to be in debt or are trying to get a better life style by trying to save money and not spending it all on useless furniture or clothing.

Education and Training

Hey everyone, my name is Britney and I'm currently studying to be a librarian. As a teenager I spent most of my spare time reading novels. You could say I was a book worm. I wasn't the type of person who'd go partying or go do things with friends on a daily basis. I preferred being alone in my own bubble since I liked doing things on my own. I always loved helping people with whatever they needed. As a kid I also spent a lot of my time helping out in charities. I was always an organized person, very neat and had really good grades in school. My favorite subject was English since I loved literature and as grew older, I became really good with words. As a teenager I was pretty bad in any sport I played  and basically made a fool of myself everytime
When it came time to choose a career, I had nothing in mind. But whenever I was in a library I felt comfortable, safe and felt like I belonged. That's how I came to the decision to become a librarian. Being a librarian might seem easy but it isn't. I have a lot of responsibilities. For example, I have to manage the planning of administrative and budgetary functions of the library and information services. I have to organize the books/novels and replaced them in the bookshelves after they've been taken out and brought back. Basically I'm making sure the library runs well

Architecture and Construction

Hey, my name is Robert but everyone calls me Bob. In high school, I was very good in math which actually helped me become a carpenter. I understood subjects more when I was able to use my hands. This is basically known as tactile learning. I used to ace the woodworking class and I was the best builder. This came easy to me since as a child my father, who worked in construction, would always bring me along whenever he could on the job site. He's the one who taught me how to build and repair things. When I was seventeen, I got my first car but I could only afford a broken down automobile so I had to repair it to make it run. My father and I made it our goal to finish the repairs together as a way to spend time together. I always treasured those moments since these types of activities brought my father and I even closer. I loved my dad for that. I was never the guy who was outgoing and able to speak to any stranger. I was the one who was reserved and felt more comfortable working alone which is still the case today.
As a carpenter, my job is to build, construct or repair any piece of furniture. I usually work alone which in my case, makes the job go faster. There are certain times I'm in an environment that exposes me to bad conditions, horrible smells, heights, difficult people etc. But I know I have to deal with this without complaint. After lifting heavy objects often my back gets sore. My job entails taking measurements, being able to follow instructions (if there are any) and being able to get along with others whether I am working with them or for them.
